Fiscal Sponsorship is a financial and legal system by which a legally recognized public charity (such as SICA) provides limited financial and legal oversight for a project initiated independently by an individual. That "project" might be a one-time project or an independent artist or even a cultural organization that does not have its own charitable, nonprofit status. Once sponsored in this way, the project is eligible to solicit and receive grants and tax-deductible contributions that are normally available only to legally registered charities.

In the USA, legally recognized public charities have what is called a 501(c)(3) designation from the Internal Revenue Service that permits donations to SICA to be tax deductible. And, as SICA is incorporated in the USA and has a 501(c)(3) status, it can provide fiscal sponsorship services to qualified individuals and groups in the USA. It cannot do this for groups outside the USA.

However, the fiscal sponsorship model can be replicated in other countries which have organized and registered their own national SICA organizations as charitable associations or trusts. We encourage those countries that have their own charitable SICA organizations to create similar programs to help the people doing cultural work in their countries.

Fractured Atlas is an excellent national arts/cultural service organization in the USA that provides many services for its members online. Their services are very valuable to artists and cultural workers throughout the world.

Ordinarily a single FA membership costs US$95.00 per year, but SICA has a partner arrangement with Fractured Atlas, so all our members can have this online membership FREE.

While some Fractured Atlas services will appeal primarily to people in the USA, there are online professional development courses in arts management and arts marketing that can be useful to anyone anywhere.

Fractured Atlas also has ways to help non-US artists to obtain artist visas to enter for the US for short tours.

You will need to have the SICA login to activate your free Fractured Atlas membership. If you are already a member of SICA or Subud, contact us to get the login information you will need to set up your own free online membership with Fractured Atlas now.
